Raisparadise is local slang for the northern village of Risögrund in Sweden. Abstract and grotesque imaginary worlds and the sense of touch are some of the inspirations that spawned this dark hotchpotch of bits and pieces, such as fluorescent lights, tassels and structure. Then I added some imagination and mysticism in an artistic way to bring out these metal objects.
Being born and having grown up in Kalix in northern Sweden, I know that there is a great deal of prejudice against people from the North. In my degree piece I have looked at these pre-concevid views and stereotypical pictures. I have found symbols representing some of the prejudices, and then used them to create three dimensional objects in the form of furniture.
The project is designed and manufactured by Lotta Lampa. The lamp is from a series but every item is unique in its production. The references to her garage / studio in Kalix is in the name. The aesthetics reminiscent of a candlestick that time decorated by the remains of a candle. The linear backbone gives the lamp a modern tone with references to modernist geometric ideals.
